Heathfield provides an environment which encourages academic success and prepares girls for the realities of the outside world. Our philosophy is to focus on the needs of individuals, nurturing both academic and personal development in a Christian environment. The school has the modern teaching, sporting and leisure facilities required to make education a challenging and positive experience, in which each girl can gain a sense of personal achievement and develop confidence and self esteem.
Heathfield has a very particular and distinctive way of providing girls with a fully rounded education. Our dedicated staff are committed to developing the full potential of every girl. Together with our excellent pastoral care, this allows each girl to gain a sense of pride in her many accomplishments and a sense of confidence to succeed in her chosen field. Nowhere are these strengths more clearly demonstrated than in the diverse fields in which our old girls contribute to society; from medicine to interior design; journalism to banking; politics to exploring; law to acting; charity work to architecture. This year we have celebrated our best ever A level results and girls have gone on to a variety of exciting universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, the LSE, the Courtauld, Imperial College and Bristol to name but a few. Girls have also achieved places at renowned centres for art, photography and drama, including RADA and LAMDA.
The school has some fine facilities, the last twenty years alone have seen vast improvements to our site with the addition of the sports hall, the indoor swimming pool and science block, as well as the refurbishment of boarding areas and the dining hall. The Library and teaching kitchen have just been extended and refurbished, with plans to build and open a new Performing Arts Centre in 2008. All girls are encouraged to participate in the lively extra curricular programme of sports matches, house outings, art, drama, dance, music, outdoor pursuits and clubs. The range of activities offered ensures that each girl has the opportunity to discover and develop her talents.
