
Hereford Cathedral Junior School is, with Hereford Cathedral School, part of the ancient Hereford Cathedral Foundation dating back to 676. The History of the school is a long and distinguished one with the first written records dating back to 1384. The Junior School was founded as an independent school in 1898 and since 1987 it has been under the aegis of the Governors of Hereford Cathedral School with the Dean of Hereford as Chairman.
The school occupies a number of Medieval and Georgian buildings along Castle Street at the east end of the Cathedral, with games fields (Wyeside) a short walk away by the River Wye. There has been considerable development over recent years and current numbers are over 300.
The Headmaster is a member of IAPS and the school has high academic standards with the majority of leavers moving to HCS on passing an entrance examination. The school is also noted for a happy and caring atmosphere with a respected position in the local community.
