School Profile

Since Kingsmead first opened in September 1904, it has provided a education based on a Christian ethos. It occupies the original site, though it has grown considerably over the last 100 years and its pupils continue to enjoy the space provided by over twenty two acres of land. The school benefits from a splendid location with views to a woodland reserve and within walking distance of the waterfront at Hoylake, yet convenient for all transport links.

Small class sizes and a highly motivated graduate teaching staff ensure that all pupils receive the attention they require in order to learn effectively. Those who are academically gifted are helped to achieve the highest standards which is reflected in our external examination results. The school has a very good relationship with a number of senior schools, where we send pupils on to for VI Form study.

The school has a firm but fair discipline policy. The school's Christian ethos and family atmosphere encourages care, compassion and service towards others. Students are taught the difference between right and wrong and the importance of service to others. As the only boarding and day school on the Wirral, our full, weekly and flexi boarding provision ensures that the school remains open 24 hours a day.

For day and boarding pupils there is an extensive extra curricular seasonal timetable. Along with the usual sporting clubs such as Hockey, Netball and Rugby we provide over 30 addtional activities including Duke of Endinburgh, Speech and Drama, Chess, Musical Groups, Rifle/Archery, Bush Craft, Wildlife Club to name but a few.

Over recent years, the school has embarked on an exciting development programme to upgrade its facilities within academic, extra-curricular and boarding departments.
