Located in 100 acres of glorious park and woodland in the heart of Kent is a rather special prep school described recently by the Good Schools Guide as "a well kept secret".
Northbourne Park School is a co-educational boarding and school where children from 3-13 are given the best possible preparation for their next steps in life through a rich variety of academic and extra-curricular activities. We are a happy family school and our goal is to instil in each child a love of learning and enthusiasm for finding out about the world around them.
So what makes us stand out from the crowd? It could be our wonderful setting which lets children make the most of their childhood, our pioneering outdoor education programme, a unique bilingual stream that sees French and English children studying alongside each other or our outstanding music successes where our children regularly achieve grade 6 and above in a variety of instruments.
The school is housed in the former home of the Northbourne family. The house provides an impressive setting for learning but has been sympathetically developed to incorporate modern day life including well-equipped ICT facilities, a homely boarding house, a brand new science suite and music wing and a large sports hall.
In small classes of no more than 18, all the foundation subjects of writing, reading and arithmetic are covered every year, exceeding the requirements of the national curriculum. Our curriculum also includes science, history, geography, music, French, Spanish, art, religious studies, ICT, drama, outdoor education, PSHE and citizenship with specialist teaching increasing as your child moves through the school.
We offer a wide range of sports from the mainstream to the more unusual. We also encourage sports where boys and girls participate together, including lacrosse, badminton and cross country.
Relationships between children and staff are strong and we place a great deal of emphasis on instilling a sense of care and respect for the needs of others both within and outside the school.
Because we don't act as a feeder to any one particular senior school, we can help prepare your child for the school that's right for them. Children leaving Northbourne in recent years have gone on to schools including Benenden, The King's School Canterbury, Tonbridge and Woldingham. Our children regularly win academic, sports and music scholarships to these and other senior schools.
Boarders and day children live happily alongside each other and our comfortable and caring boarding environment ensure that children as young as 7 feel at home with us. We place great emphasis on creating a comfortable atmosphere which feels like home. A full range of activities fills the boarders' free time - in fact parents sometimes find it hard to persuade their children to return home for weekend and there is little time for television! Many of our day children like it here so much that they flexi-board with us regularly.
We're ideally placed for transport links to London and the continent. We also run a regular bus service to London for our boarders.
Don't just take our word for it - come and see for yourself why children love Northbourne Park so much.
