St George's School - Ascot
Reviews | News | Alumni School Profile 'We believe we are a leading school because we specialise in providing a holistic girls' education within a caring and happy environment. Our programme is tailored to meet individual strengths, interests and talents within a sound educational core that fosters the traditional values and transferable skills most need for success in modern society.'
St George's is an independent boarding and day school for girls, situated on a 30 acre site in beautiful countryside near Windsor Great Park and opposite Ascot Racecourse. The school is less than 30 miles from London and is close to Windsor and Eton. Heathrow Airport is half an hour away and the school is equidistant from the M3 and M4 motorways. Ascot High Street can be reached on foot in five minutes, while the railway station is less than a mile away.
Each girl is encouraged to achieve her best in whatever field that might be. We believe that her educational experience should stretch and support her when necessary and allow her to grow at her own pace, largely unaffected by outside pressures. At our recent Inspection, our staff were praised for their ability to develop the self-confidence and individual characters of all our pupils, equipping them masterfully for life.
St George's is small enough to focus on each individual girl but large enough to offer a wide range of A Level subjects, fabulous facilities and a huge variety of extra-curricular activities, along with a vibrant boarding community. Attractive teacher pupil ratios result in personal attention in the classroom and this is further enhanced by a tutor system that meets the needs of the varied personalities that make up our community.
Academic results are strong, with high proportions of the girls going on to Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities. Girls are given opportunities to excel not only in traditional subjects but also in Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
We are justly proud of our unique system of pastoral care, which ensures that each individual child has her own Personal Tutor from the academic staff as well as a team of specially trained pastoral housemistresses, who are available for day girls as well as boarders.
Our boarders enjoy the opportunity to go home most weekends and benefit from a special weekend package of activities on the four weekends of each term that are compulsory. It is no surprise that day girls want to join the boarders for most of their weekend outings and no wonder that boarding at St George's is looked upon as a privilege.
We shall be delighted to welcome you to St George's to talk to you about the wonderful opportunities we are able to offer your daughter. Please join us at one of our Open Mornings on Saturday 23rd February and on Saturday 26th April 2008 or contact the Registrar to arrange a private visit.
