... Exceptional Pastoral Care

St Mary's School wants only the best for its girls. When girls leave St Mary's, they are well-rounded, confident and ready to face the challenges ahead of them. All St Mary's girls go onto higher education and this transition is eased by the 'pre-university experience' offered at St Mary's. The new Sixth Form Centre will provide additional boarding and academic facilities and allow the girls to develop further independence in their living and working arrangements.

Throughout a girl's time at St Mary's, she is taught as an individual and is supported continually by her individual tutor who supervises her general welfare and academic progress and gives her parents a clearly identified point of contact.

... Superb Teaching Staff

St Mary's teachers have real passion for their subjects and it is the "unstinting commitment of [the] dedicated teaching staff" coupled with "strong, visionary leadership" (ISI 2007) that enables the school to meet its aim to provide a cutting edge curriculum for the 21st Century. The curriculum has been designed to be flexible so that it is responsive to individual needs, allowing for fast tracking in certain subjects and support of the Gifted and Talented girls, as well as those who may need extra help. The curriculum offers breadth and depth, intellectual stimulation and a scope for creativity, encouraging independent learning and providing St Mary's girls' with an education that motivates, challenges and inspires them.

... Excellent Academic Results

Girls consistently perform well in public examinations and St Mary's was placed 3rd in the country in The Telegraph Small Schools League Table (March 2007). We know that our excellent examination results might suggest that we accept only highly academic girls. In fact, we look for girls who have potential, whatever their education before joining us. At St Mary's this potential is fulfilled by helping girls to discover their strengths.

... Wide diversity of Extra Curricular Activities

A wide range of opportunities for leadership, community service and extra-curricular activity in all realms of school life, enhances the curriculum. The excellent facilities, from the state of the art fitness suite and 25m indoor pool, to the performing arts theatre and the music school, enrich the students' lives. 80% of the girls play musical instruments; drama productions in the theatre are of the highest standard, and the school is currently represented at county level in 6 major sports and nationally in horse riding. Life at St Mary's is about much more than what goes on in the classroom, the girls thrive in a safe, healthy and happy atmosphere.
