St Mary's School

School Profile

We are a full boarding and day school for Catholics and we welcome those from other Christian denominations. We are concerned with all that a girl is, and could become. Superb facilities, excellent academic results and a "can do!" ethos are underpinned by a strong pastoral structure enabling girls to achieve their goals. The latest ISI report (2007) states: "Girls show resilience, confidence, self-awareness, kindness and thoughtfulness in their relationships with others ... the powerful spiritual life of the school, with the Catholic faith at its heart, offers an excellent framework for strong relationships and the girls' personal development within a caring school community."

Facilities include music and drama complexes, a new indoor pool, Astroturf, purpose built sixth form house and IT facilities in every clasroom.
The school was founded in 1945 by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, now the Congregation of Jesus, in the tradition of its 17th century foundress Mary Ward.
